Savor this One

Dan looks at the 22 year drought since the Celtics' last championship. Says the 1986 Celtics were one of the best teams ever but it has been down hill ever since Len Bias died. He then goes through the familiar list of all the heinous things that have happened in the past 22 years--from the deaths of Bias and Lewis to the coaching debacles of Carr and Pittino and the bad lottery luck with no Duncan and no Durant or Oden.

He hints the good ole days are back and should be savored -- and there are no guarantees the Celts will be back in this position next year.

This is your typical Shaughnessy Sunday fare. No stunning insights - just one of his stock "keep it in perspective" columns with the typical laundry list of items that he is apt to throw out from time to time.

..you missed his Saturday column, which was basicly a chance for him to rub our noses in some of the worst loses in Boston Sports history.....good old Shank

Yes, it was sort of the laundy list of all the shit that has happened since he got laid when his wife wasn't really drunk or his daughter...never mind...

Sunflower - it was okay and I do try to be fair; but it is old in the sense in that he regurgitates the same story line again and again. At least 3-4 times a year, you will get the digs at Pitino and Carr...which is all well and good but it just grows stale

Anon 11:39: I definitely did miss it; I am an online reader only and sometimes the globe site goes heywire and yesterday was one of those days. I will dig for it and see if it is worth commenting

As always, thanks to our loyoal readers and appreciate the comments

I'll save you the trouble, Dave - generally, it is not. It's bullshit speculation, nothing more. I found it schizoid, foolish, pointless, silly / stupid, self aggrandizing with unrelenting, insufferable negativity.

If a sports columnist ever had the chance to take a metaphorical dump and display its odious contents for the world to behold, this would be it.

Of course, in France, they'd call it art...
