Jest Wing

Ready for this? The CHB is going into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Well, sort of.

For starters, it's the baseball writer's wing of the Hall. So already it's like kissing your sister (which I'm pretty sure is what got Shank started on his road to fatherhood, which next to his mediocre career has been perhaps his greatest exercise in failure).

Moreover, you know who votes in the inductees? Yep: other writers! That's about as big an accomplishment as getting a mother to love her baby. What a joke.

More humor. The CHB waxes nostalgic about Earl Weaver. You know who Earl Weaver was? Baseball's first sabermetrician manager. Of course, The CHB is too busy whining about baseball to actually, you know, understand it.

I still have trouble believing that Shank, who covered the Orioles in the late '70's, didn't write about Earl Weaver when he passed away three years ago.

Didn't have to even look at who wrote this one; if it is illogical, vituperative name-calling it is the immature Mike at the keyboard.

Kid screws up and he's a bad father? By that logic, Shaughnessy cured cancer because his daughter recovered.

The Spink award was bestowed by people who have greater ability to observe, analyze, compare and contrast than likes of this Mike B1 can ever imagine.

OB's motto: "Defending stupidity, self-righteousness and incivility since 2005."

P.S.: How's your sister taste?

That explains the Globe's circulation numbers and reader interest in these stories, amirite?

"Kid screws up and he's a bad father?" As the Globe would say - "pattern of behavior" with Globe sports spawn.

Saint Willie of the Lower End had a kid oui someone to death.

Had another son who thought that Florian Hall had a drive thru window at 3 AM.

Why can't globe sportswriter spawn stay out of jail?

It shows a tremendous lack of character on the parts of the parent (Shank) and the child (Sam).

As for the daughter, this is the same girl The CHB reportedly tried to get Tom Werner -- a person whom he covers -- to give his daughter a job.
