My dislike for Dan's "Picked Up Pieces" columns is obvious. Today's effort was, to say the least, a surprise.
It is not just a list of things that have been in the news over the past few weeks with a little bit of commentary. There are semi-interesting things I haven't hears about and some actual analysis of recent events. There are some bombs, but they do not overwhelm like they usually do.
Good, but still not Bob Ryan.

OB,
I repeat from a December posts:
“Please tell me that you too are getting bored with the Shank’s "stream of consciousness" shtick.”
and
“I think we are due for the year end ""stream of consciousness" piece.”
So predictable. So despicable. So Shank!

Shaughnessy, without a shred of doubt, is jealous of Ryan...who is smarter, less acerbic, more personable, and WAY more appealing on TV.
The thing that got me in this one was Dan talking about the other AL East teams, except Baltimore, coming at the Red Sox with 'killer' rotations. News flash, Dan, the Jays lost 40% of last year's rotation with Burnett gone & Marcum injured. McGowan won't be ready to start the year either. That leaves Halladay and Litsch. They even signed Matt Clement to a minor-league deal. Way to mail it in, sir.
