It Took Long Enough

Dan offers up his mea culpa for his initial impression of Dustin Pedroia. But Dan does it in typical Shank fashion, going over the top with his ironic praise, comparing Pedroia to Pete Rose.

Dan's suspicion of Pedroia's talent has been well documented and now he takes it all back. Maybe he won't be so fast to dismiss a player with a record of success at every level just so he can attack Theo. And yes, there is a "minions" sighting in the column.

The reason why Shaughnessy won't go anywhere on the national stage is because he's simply poor at what he does. He sees rain on a Tuesday and then pronounces that this is the weather we'll see forevermore. Then, when the sun does come out, he does a 'Pedroia.' That's the way he operates, and why he's a minor league talent with a major league salary. I am so hoping that the Boston Globe evaporates and that a whole bunch of its staff--including Shank--is washed out with the red tide.

Who's with me?

There was some reason to be skeptical of Pedroia. If Shaughnessy underrated him, so did quite a few major league organisations.

However...Shaughnessy apparently forgot Rule #1: Thou Shalt Slobber Over Thine Heroes (at least until the ballclub decides to pull the plug on someone and begins the sneaky disinformation campaign as a prelude to once and former heroes going elsewhere, q.v. Martinez, Pedro; Garciaparra, Nomar; Lowe, Derek.)

Statheads loved Pedroia. Shaughnessy hates statheads because they are smarter than him.

Statheads 1, CHB 0.

To point out Dan's inconsistency / lack of explanation on the Pedroia matter is quite a different issue than to 'Slobber Over Thine Heroes', wouldn't you agree?

Apparently not.

Perhaps you're up to the task of addressing DB Vader's primary point, re: Dan's suspicions about Pedroia, which appears to be summed up rather nicely (second link in the article):

We are still waiting for an explanation as to why this particular prospect is suspect.

Then, Dan takes it all back in what can only be described as a series of backhanded compliments that would destroy the average pimp hand.

Thus, your 'slobbering' admonishment lacks certain attributes, such as logic and reasoning.

That is very funny. Who does the front office call when they need to start the smear campaign and who is all too happy to oblige? Yes, it is Shank, who only feels in his element when he ripping a player.
