Time Zones and the Wonders of Intercontinental Travel

For the first quarter of Dan's column today, that is all he talks about. And if you have ever flown on a jet over a timeline, you will get the point before he even makes it.

The rest is another picked up pieces column from the trip. That's Dan for you. Boston Globe's top Sports columnist and he cannot be bothered to develop a single theme for his column.

Boy, was that a groaner. BFD that 'You land before you take off.' Have your fun with that in one sentence and be done with it. But, Shaughnessy (again) clearly wanted to impress upon his stayed-at-home media brethren that he went on this boondoggle and they didn't. What better way to do that than to discuss JAL 747s, how Dice-K 'blends,' and the 'magic' of International Date Lines.

I'll enjoy another retort from ObtuseBruce saying how 'confused' he is by what I just wrote, or how his 'head hurts.'

Boy, there's nothing like good old fashioned American Basketball Association talk in a baseball column. What an awesome job, Shank!!!!! For the next pick-up pieces column, be sure to dissect the 1972-3 New England Whalers on their quest for the World Hockey Association's debut AVCO Cup.

What's up with Dan's jealousy of Schilling/ Maybe the fact that Curt writes as well as Dan withoug benefit of a Holy Cross journalism degree. It's sad how he stuck a dig in almost every winter column with no possible reference to baseball. Sad.....

Clearly and without a shred of doubt, Shaughnessy is at odds with Schilling because the latter has a blog. And a sports star with a blog is anathema to Shaughnessy; he despises the fact that a pitcher can circumvent the whole need for a sports journalist/writer/columnist and 'go direct.' It is no different than a wholesaler deciding to sell directly to the consumer, bypassing the retailer. Schilling 'going direct' means that Shaughnessy's 'raison d'etre' is pretty much demolished.

That is it, pure and simple.

"That is it, pure and simple."

Well, that and uber-liberal Shank loathes all "knuckle-dragging" conservatives.

That, too.

But there's a whole other blog called 'Squaring The Boston Globe' where you can happily rip that moribund operation to shreds.
