An Insightful and Original Column

Reading back that headline makes me laugh.

A google news search of "media day" and "super bowl" returns over 1,400 hits, a lot of which highlight the bizarre going ons. Dan mentioned Media Day as a circus twice yesterday. What does the bravest columnist write about today? The craziness that is Media Day.

Dan slips in a cute little comment about the weather, also. Fans despise hearing sports media members bitch about their situation while getting to cover the Super Bowl. Dan knows that and slips in a few sly references to the cold weather ("I wonder if he/she is cold"). Cute, Dan. You could be up here covering the Bruins.

"Clowns to the left of him, jokers to the right." and a Carnac reference. Wow, Shank's really going for that 18-30 demographic. How about some songs/pop culture references from the 90's? Is that asking too much?

(and yes, Bruce, I know that those are a Stealers Wheel and a Johnny Carson reference without having to look it up)

And for those of you keeping score...second use of "Clowns to the left" reference in two months. Last used on 30 Nov in the Isiah Thomas column

I'm still waiting for a Wayne Newton reference...

I sent him an e-mail asking if he was a clown, a joker, or some sick combination of the two.

He hasn't had the courtesy of responding. I suppose Dan is too busy soaking up all those expense report dollars while the pink slips roll off the presses faster than their newspapers do.
