The New England Patriots won handily last night, 42 - 14, a result that concerns DSW commenter Monkeesfan:
Shank will become more insufferable now because he nailed this one - the Texans got crushed 42-14.
Lo and behold, the Boston sports columnist who
hijacked the bandwagon.
Patriots look like they’re heading to Super Bowl
FOXBOROUGH — The Falcons don’t scare me a bit. The Niners could provide some resistance and we’ll get a look at them this weekend. But if you really want to know the truth, the team that scares me in Super Bowl XLVII is the . . . New York Giants.
Sorry for the buzzkill. But the Giants are on my mind today.
The Patriots are going to play in the Super Bowl Feb. 3 in New Orleans. Nobody in the AFC is better than New England. Not this year.
Insufferable is pretty apt here; the only thing missing is a few 'sons of Belichick' Shankisms to put it over the top.

Shank was on Gresh & Zolak Tuesday after the MNF massacre and it was about what I expected - Shank contributed little of substance to the football discussion other than his view the Texans won't make it to the AFC Championship Game - one hesitates agreeing with him but the way Houston quit in the third quarter (they basically refused to throw the ball) spoke a lot to how overrated the Texans are even at 11-2 - heck, the Titans at 4-9 show more fight than the Texans did in this game.
Shank is tagging the NY Giants for the Superbowl, and let's face it - the annual Coughlin second-half collapse isn't happening right now, so it makes sense to pick the Giants. The Falcons are a paper tiger like Houston and the Packers - it jumped out at me in the Panthers game that Cam Newton is now playing far better football than Matt Ryan.
But showing how little Shank deals with football, he's overlooking the 49ers and the Seahawks, both of whom are showing legitimate Superbowl muscle.
