UMass’s football program is an embarrassment. This is not the fault of the student-athletes. It is the fault of the UMass administration and the athletic department. The players are not being put in a position to succeed, and that’s on the grownups and the citizens of Massachusetts who are letting this happen.
Simply put, the Minutemen should not be playing big-time college football. They lose by whopping scores. UMass is 1-9. Here are the scores of the Minutemen’s last five games:
Florida International 44, UMass 0.
Louisiana Tech 69, UMass 21.
UConn 56, UMass 35.
Liberty 63, UMass 21.
Army 63, UMass 7.

It really is embarrassing. Pathetic, and shameful that under Whipple they were more respectable....almost beat Vanderbilt, Hawaii, Mississippi State and Temple under Whipple. Walt Bell is an underqualified CLOWN who's more into his looks than holding players accountable. You waited TOO LONG to jump to FBS, and let UConn gain an upper edge in recruiting. At this point, Holy Cross is by far the 2nd best program in New England.
Why on earth would any talented high school football player with half a brain want to attend UMass Amherst?!?! "Happy Valley," as we UMass graduates call the Amherst/Northampton area, is awash with 5 of the most extremely liberal colleges and universities in the USA (umass amherst, amherst college, smith college, mount holyoke college, and the total embarrassment to "higher education," hampshire "college") and football has zilch appeal to these vegan zoloft addicts.
These liberal indoctrination centers were all "woke" back in the 1970s (I'm a 76 grad) and have only grown worse since!!
Back in 1998, when UMass (coach whipple days) won the NCAA Division 1-AA National Championship against Georgia Southern, i traveled to Amherst to watch the game at Rafters, the largest sports bar in happy valley, only for my wife and i to discover about half a dozen umass supporters, including ourselves, in the bar!
Such is the status of UMass football...
I could go on and on about "happy valley," but there is simply nothing appealing at UMass for a talented young football player, which is why UMass is presently ranked 129 out of 130 nationally..
