Some Links to Pass the Time

I need to be working, but thought I would waste time posting some links.

Dan is #6 in Boston Sports Media Watch's 2007 Mid-Year Power Rankings just behind Gerry Callahan and just ahead of the Chili Guy. (I made that last part up.)

I don't get it. We talk about his columns, but only because they suck. Not since Theo left has Dan had any impact on the coverage of sports in this town. Dan is on TV a lot (I presume he watches himself later on Tivo), but his opinions are worthless. He has repeatedly shown that he cannot offer any observations into the sports he covers.

If I see this sign in person, I will kick it in. Quote Shaughnessy, go ahead. Quote him about Pedroia and how Mark Loretta should be back making $2.5 million after hitting .285/.345/.361. Quote his numerous factual mistakes.

If you are feeling frustrated after reading all this, take your frustrations out with this game. 113,944 meters is the record to beat.

From the power rankings: "His columns might be formulaic at this point, but they still stir outrage."

So, basically, their argument is that that things like this blog are one of the reasons he's #6.

no, it's because he raises issues. There must be a balance between raising skeptical issues and the management-whores like Bradford (when are he and Theo going to announce the engagement) and McAdam (the Voice of Management.)

The one thing to smile about thou...the Schilling got ranked ahead of him. How bad of a writer do you have to be to lose to someone who isn't even doing it for a living, but just for fun

OB, what issues has Shank ever raised that were worth raising? He just throws stuff out there hoping to be correct some of the time.

Atta boy, OB!

Keep ragin' against the machine!

Is there a way to email the authors? If not, could one of you email me at friendlyadvice@gmail.com?

I am searching for an on-line logic course for the benefit of Tim and Monkeesfan, since I interpret what they say here as a desperate cry for help in that regard.

OB:

How loud and long did Dan laugh when
Schilling's no-hitter went away in the ninth
yesterday? Dan must have been so psyched!
I'll bet Marty Baron was a teeny bit thrilled as well,
Schilling being a Republican and all.

Take Care,

Tim

Friendlyadvice,

You are going to have to come up with a better email address than that.

DB - check your email. Friendly advice is legit

That's a pretty smarmy comment.

Why would either Baron or Shaughnessy laugh at a no-hitter being lost at the 27th out?

OB:

Simple. Dan hates Schilling and wants bad things
to happen to him.

Baron? You might have a point. Baseball is probably too symbolic of the white male hegemony for him to truly enjoy.

Okay, take care.

Q: What's the difference between Dan Shaughnessy and a union hack who stands around on a job site watching others do all the work?

A: Nothing!

This has no relevance to this blog entry, but it sure is telling about Shaughnessy. This morning on my way to work, I tuned to 96.9 for the first time in a long time. There, on the Barnicle show, was Shaughnessy. I listened for 45 minutes and Shaughnessy added NOTHING! Never heard a PEEP from him, except a one-sentence contribution about 'Tito' Francona. Otherwise, he was a deaf mute collecting a paycheck. I was amazed, but not at all surprised.

OB, asking a simple straightforward question is a cry for help? You want cries for help, maybe Shank needs help.

It's a simple question - what issues has Shank raised that were ever worth raising?

stunningly, Obtuse Bruce has decided to rip on the writers at papers aside from the Globe while smooching up to CHB again. No Bruce, you don't work at the Globe. No, really, we believe you ...
