Shaughnessy Article puts Sinden in Hot Water

Apparently, Harry Sinden's job is in jeopardy because of his comments in a column by our old friend Dan Shaughnessy. One wonders if it is this kind of thing that gives Shaughnessy a reputation in some circles as a cutting edge journalist? On some level, you have to give Shaughnessy credit for stirring the pot. On another level, you have to wonder if he was a pawn for Harry Sinden's agenda or yet again, if he took Sinden's quotes out of context.

  1. Harry Sinden was to the Boston Bruins what Bob Lobel was to TV sports journalism...a guy who started off great, went downhill, and hung around wayyyyy too long.

  2. Bob Lobel wasn't great to begin with.

BTW, when will Shank refer to the Montreal Canadiens as the A-Rod Yankees of the NHL? And which Bruin will get the Curt Schilling tretment of opprobrium from His Moral Shankness?

  3. I find the contrast between the reaction to this column and the reaction to the Theo column to be rather entertaining.

We just luv, luv, luv our Red Sox and anyone who "stirs the pot" is evil. But the Bruins? That's another matter. Stir away, matey.

Unfortunately, he buried the lead on Sinden.

The circumstances on the Epstein column and the Sinden column are a lot different, no? If Shaughnessy can get a direct quote from Theo saying for example saying something to the effect that "I'm not a big fan of JD Drew...", more power to him for stirring that pot (assuming he hasnt taken the whole thing out of context). But that is not what happened with the Epstein thing a few years back. Go back to your hole

  7. OB,

Carrying Lucchino's water and directly quoting Harry Sinden are two different things. Even your small mind should be able to grasp the distinction.

  8. Shank took advantage of an old man who ain't as savvy has he used to be. Simple as that. No honor in it for the CHB.

  9. OB, here's the difference between the Red Sox and the Bruins - the Red Sox have a management and ownership team that knows how to win championships; since Weston Adams cashed out the Bruins have been hamstrung by ownership more in the Yawkey mold than the Kraft mold.
