He flew 3000 miles for this?

Seriously?

The Globe, ever mindful in these tough economic times, sent the obsessive one to San Diego to cover Manny's return. Shaughnessy says it was a circus. Does he realize he is the clown? He strings together quote after quote; throws a John Lennon reference in for good measure and calls it a day. Hope the Globe gets a good return.

  1. Don’t know where to start.

Perhaps I should just end with a reference to another line from the Beatles song that that The Idiot makes reference to:

“Don't you think the joker laughs at you? (ho ho ho, he he he, ha ha ha)”

Kind of helps puts things in perspective.

If the Shank is trying to get inside Manny’s head he should listen to another Beatles song:

    “Come Together”

Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please ……

  2. What a time for anyone at The Globe to be winging their way to the west coast for what essentially is a 'boondoggle.' Indeed, Shaughessy's quotes were pool quotes...not ones he needed to fly for six hours to get. Sometimes you wonder why stupid, idiotic people have a desire to prove that's exactly what they are.

  4. RIDICULOUS!!....what doesn't the Boston Sports Media understand??...MANNY DOES NOT PLAY HERE ANYMORE!....jeeze...I could MAYBE see the OBSESSION if Manny was BORN in the Boston area and then played for the Sox etc..etc... but he's just another ballplayer who now wears different laundry.....memo to Boston sports Media: GET OVER IT

  5. as far as the "circus" goes, give me a break....big deal, Manny comes back from a roids suspention. Media acts like the world is coming to an end. Didn't I just hear this tune but the main subject was AROD?.....what's happen since then?...Answer: NOT MUCH....Arod is playing ball like any other player and for the most part everybody has forgotten about his dastardly "roid use"....the media cares (or acts like they cares) about roids MUCH more than the fans do.

    It's not about Manny.

It's about taking a stand with the CHB.

As fans of the game we want insights that we can't gain by surfing the web or the the TV.

We would prefer to understand what goes on in the ind of the "players" but the Shank can't deliver.

The Shank just preaches a good game.

It ain't about Manny, it's about have the communicating to the fans and not the mirror.

  8. I understand your point,g........but my point is, even if this was a well written, well researched column by Shank it wouldn't have mattered to me. I'm just tired of hearing about Manny.
