Dan manages to incorporate all his favorite topics in today's column: Manny Ramirez, how late a game ends, and lame, dated song references.
It all leaves you wondering what Boston sports fans did to have Shank writing the front page pieces for the playoffs. At least Dan didn't write 90% of the column before the game and shoehorn some mention of the game into the piece.
didn't read it....no need to, if you read Shank once, you've heard it all
ReplyDeleteApparently, the Shaughnessy-haters went to the Sarah Palin school of debate.
ReplyDeleteIgnore the issue and toss out a time-worn screed containing a collection of cliches and virtually nothing of substance and sit back in self-satisfaction. Why, we even get more of the tired old nonsense about the columnist being bitter because he can't make money off the curse.
Sure beats thinking.
OB,
ReplyDelete“Sure beats thinking.”
Shank said it best – life is “about mind games as much as it is about baseball games.”
The kissing contest he had with Boss Henry highlight the Shanks psychosis – “yes Sir Boss man”. The perpetual kicks into Manny border on insanity – “what we have here is a failure to communicate” (Cool Hand Luke).
I repeat ….. Shank had a tough week - first tooled by the Boss Henry and then schooled by the Professor Manny.
Think about it.

ReplyDeleteA perfect description of Shank's article!
OB:
ReplyDeletePlease, once and for all, from high atop the tower o' ivory, please explain what Shank brings to the party? Insight? Humor? Analysis? Information?
Any of the above?
Or does he bring bitterness, anger, cliches, and self-serving crap?
I'm serious, bunky. Get past the "fan boy" and "luv, luv, luv" shite, and explain why you think anyone should take the time to read Shank. Make a cogent, non-patronizing, non-provincial argument.
Can you?
Your pal,
Timmy
Seconded. I would love to read a detailed criticism of my posts. I might be waiting a good time.

ReplyDeleteIn the words of David Byrne, "I'm still waiting!"
Okay, bunky?
