We are all (me included) still smarting from what happened in February. I literally have trouble believing it was real, and I consider myself a reasonably lucid guy. I just think that whether we like it or not, 2008 was one weird year for Pats fans. A good column.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17263668.post-85126109731234971272008-09-05T16:28:00.000-04:002008-09-05T16:28:00.000-04:00another "List column" from lazy, washed up Shank......another "List column" from lazy, washed up Shank....the reason he writes so many columns like this is because it is SO EASY, he doesn't have to try and put a paragraph together....God, what a sorry excuse for a sportswriterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17263668.post-22166513477210660212008-09-05T11:58:00.000-04:002008-09-05T11:58:00.000-04:00Shaughnessy surely should have recognized that we ...Shaughnessy surely should have recognized that we don't like to hear about unpleasantness. He obviously just wants to rub noses in it. He should write nice positive columns filled with the statistic of the week. Analyze matchups. Quote geniuses. Ask questions at public press conferences so everyone knows what's on his mind before he writes it.

Scrub history clean! Another opportunity for Shaughnessy to display his clever little one-liners?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17263668.post-36479250099551581842008-09-04T15:01:00.000-04:002008-09-04T15:01:00.000-04:00Shaughnessy is Boston's version of Chicago's Mario...Shaughnessy is Boston's version of Chicago's Mariotti, who has been dispatched to the Land of Misfit Sports Journalists. Having no friends or real allies at any sports franchise, how do either of these men succeed at their profession? I have seen numerous photos of Dan milling about--usually in the back of a throng of other sports media types. The go-getters are the ones in front. Then there is Dan, who slinks near the back because he realizes he's 'not welcome around these parts.' But the Globe pays him a salary, so attend he must, even if it means capturing nothing real or substantive. But then, that's the beauty of being a columnist: You don't need to come up with anything real or substantive.

The anger that surrounds people like Shaughnessy and Mariotti is clearly a by-product of the doom and gloom that surrounds the industry they work (worked?) in. This is fascinating to watch, and not altogether unpleasant when it lays waste to angry, rage-filled members of the Cabal.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12775107449004277179noreply@blogger.com
