The Internet has nuked 'his' newspaper and 'his' career. Blogs have short-circuited his reason for being, and I for one LOVE it! You can just HEAR the anger and rage in every piece CHB writes. He is an angry old man, his newspaper is a laughingstock and so are his colleagues, and he no longer rules the roost when it comes to thought and commentary.

For those of us who hate CHB with a passion, these are indeed the best of times!Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12775107449004277179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17263668.post-54213436526731788592007-03-28T10:01:00.000-04:002007-03-28T10:01:00.000-04:00Woohoo! Here's a copy

"Witty.

By the way, don't take solace thinking that those who criticized this most recent column just "don't get it". People understand you were trying to be funny and perhaps original; it's just that you failed at both. Either time has passed you by or you "mailed it in".

If you were merely trying to create a reaction, then congratulations, you succeeded. I just assumed you would want discussion to revolve around the merits of your argument rather than the current dialogue mostly along the lines of "It sucks" vs. "It doesn't suck so badly"."

OK, got to get back to work.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17263668.post-64122112882533072702007-03-27T10:34:00.000-04:002007-03-27T10:34:00.000-04:00Here is a copy of an email I sent to Dan (copying ...Here is a copy of an email I sent to Dan (copying the Globe editor):

"Dan,
As a Boston Globe reader for over twenty years, I have read quite a few of your articles. Growing up, I looked forward to reading your columns along with those from Peter Gammons. I am curious about your work over the last couple of years. Basically, I want to know, "What happened?". Insight has passed away; enjoyment of sport, the athlete, the competition, has faded. In its place are the angry rants of a curmudgeon. If something from your personal life is souring your writing then address it. If you have lost the joy, find something else to do. We don't want to hear from you anymore.

Your 38Pitches blog ("Famous guest blogs in") is a new low, even for you. It is not well written, funny, witty, original....I could go on. I would have been embarrassed to turn that article in as homework when I was in the 6th grade.

People watch and read about sports as a diversion, an enjoyment. Certainly not every article should be positive but when the reader senses you have no passion and don't enjoy it anymore, it is time to move on to something else. At this point, you are like Nomar during the summer of 2004, just a shadow of your former self and a negative "cancer in the clubhouse" that needs to be moved.

Former reader"

CHB actually responded but (surprise!) it wasn't very noteworthy.

His response: "will miss you, fanboy.
shaughnessy"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17263668.post-16409722659942285232007-03-27T10:08:00.000-04:002007-03-27T10:08:00.000-04:00I sent a letter to the Globe last night.
